Fieldwork Reflection (overall)

 I thought that this fieldwork was a great experience for the entire class. I loved watching other groups present and how they interacted with the students because it showed me different things that I would like to incorporate the next time I teach a lesson. It was also really interesting to see how creative some groups were and the different brain breaks that they used (and even participating in some when no students showed up)! 


I learned a lot from chapters four and six of the textbook and how important it is to put a lot of time and effort into creating and planning lessons. There is so much to think about when planning like what kinds of assessments should be used and how to connect the material to students' lives.

It was a great semester working with everyone and wish you all luck as we finish up with finals. Grab some coffee and Redbull and get it all done!

 Welcome to my Science and Technology blog!  For my first post, I would like to reflect a bit on what I have learned so far in ED2520. One thing that stood out to me the most is how many different online tools there are to create fun and engaging lessons in the classroom. My favorite tool that we saw were flip grids and world cloud. How To Avoid Harmful Content

 In the digital age that we are living in, harmful content can be extremely easy to stumble upon. It is extremely important as educators to find ways to protect students from the harmful content that can be found on the internet. One way to protect students when they are in the classroom is by viewing students' screens. There are many different ways that teachers can control their students' screens to ensure that they are on task and not participating in anything that may be inappropriate or not conducive to learnings. When they are not in school, teachers can recommend to parents different types of web filters that will prevent students from seeing anything harmful.

The 5 E's

 Engage  The main message of Neil DeGrass Tyson's talk is that science literacy gives you the power to know the validity of someone's words (the truth). The main message is that scientists are knowledgable in other fields than just science. We should be embarrassed that scientists know more about liberal arts and can speak about other subjects such as Shakespeare while English majors could probably not hold a conversation about physics.  Explore  Inquiry-based learned is used to teach students lessons by having them investigate and navigate actual scenarios and experiencing/watching through social scenarios instead of an extremely formal lesson and just reading to memorize facts.  Discovery learning is learning that is done throughout acts of discovery in order to rearrange and transform what is learned in ways that one will be able to move passed the evidence so that they develop a new, additional insight into what is already known.  Explain The 5E's are a...
